The Westin Playa Bonita offers guests an idyllic retreat on the golden sands of Playa Bonita Beach, next to lush rainforests. The resort’s 611 rooms and suites all offer a spectacular view of either the ocean or the rainforest. Enjoy the resort’s oceanfront poolscape with three infinity-edge pools, several restaurants, two lounges, Sensory Spa (offering 10% treatment discounts to ISHRS guests), and the complimentary 24-hour Westin Workout gym.
The resort is located approximately a 20-minute drive from downtown Panama City and approximately a 40-minute drive from Tocumen International Airport. Also within a 20-minute drive you will find Casco Viejo (the Old Quarter), a charming, historic area of the city where you can enjoy many restaurants, bars, and clubs.
Dining options at the resort are Tierra y Fuego (steakhouse) and Asiana (Asian), both open for dinner only 6:00PM-10:30PM, with reservations required. There is also Pacifica (buffet, offering a different international theme each night) and Starfish (open 24 hours, seafood etc., plated & buffet). You will want to make dinner reservations at the resort’s restaurants to assure availability. Reservations need to be made on the same day that you would like to dine, at the concierge desk or by emailing conciergew@westinplayabonita.com. The resort’s two lounges are Oasis Bar, located in the lobby, and Soléo, located on the pool terrace.
Oasis Bar
On Thursday nights the hotel offers its guests a Caribbean Tropical Party on the pool deck and beach, with live music, self-pay food, and bar beverages. Also, for those who like to sing, on Friday night we encourage you to gather at the resort’s cocktail lounge, Soléo, which offers karaoke night from 6:00PM-1:00AM. On other nights Soléo offers entertainment, such as DJ music and salsa lessons.
If you plan to hit the beach, note that high tide is in the morning, so the best beach time to visit the beach is between 10:00AM to midday. Sunset time will be just before 6:00PM during our meeting. Fun fact: Panama is the only place in the world where you can see the sun rise on the Pacific and set on the Atlantic.
Hotel Accommodations and Rates
The following discounted group rates have been secured for the 2022 ISHRS 30th World Congress at the Westin Playa Bonita for the dates of Wednesday/October 19 to Friday/November 4, 2022, based on availability.
The group rates include a buffet breakfast in the hotel’s restaurant, Pacifica, and complimentary wifi in the guest room and public areas. The ISHRS also has complimentary wifi in the meeting space. ISHRS Group Rates:
Deluxe Rainforest View: $160 USD plus tax
Deluxe Ocean View: $180 USD plus tax
Executive Club Rainforest View: $190 USD plus tax
Executive Club Ocean View: $210 USD plus tax
(Executive Club rooms include Executive Club Lounge Access, which consists of complimentary continental breakfast, complimentary non-alcoholic beverages, and complimentary hors d’oeuvres and cocktails 6:00PM-8:00PM.)
All room rates are currently subject to a 10% occupancy tax, which is subject to change. The hotel does not charge a resort fee. Triple and quad occupancy will have a per-person, per-night surcharge of USD $25 for the third and fourth person. Children 12 years and younger may stay in their parent’s or guardian’s room at no charge in the existing bedding. A maximum of 4 people is allowed per room with two queen beds, and a maximum of 3 people per room with king beds.
