Advances in Hair Biology Lecturer: Understanding Hair Bioenergetics to Modulate Hair Growth

Aishwarya Sridharan is the Project Lead in Hair and Skin health lab, led by Dr Thomas Dawson in the ASTAR Skin Research Labs (ASRL)/ Skin Research Institute of Singapore (SRIS), Singapore. She leads academic and industrial projects involving modulation of human hair growth through hair follicle bioenergetics. She is a life science researcher having 14 years of research experience in areas including hair biology, skin pigmentation, infectious disease, and immunology with 9 years of extensive experience in consumer beauty care biology (skin & hair).

Aishwarya graduated with B.Tech in Industrial biotechnology from Anna University, India. She received her Ph.D from Singapore MIT Alliance program with her thesis on study of dengue infection in a humanized mouse model, jointly supervised by Prof Jianzhu Chen, MIT and Dr Martin Hibberd, GIS. Post her Ph.D, she joined the lab of Dr Leah Vardy in the Institute of Medical Biology (currently SRIS), Singapore to study the effect of polyamine and their regulators on human skin pigmentation. Aishwarya is passionate about translational research, particularly in the areas of cosmetic applications and consumer care.
